Gut Gardening is a collaborative project between Berlin based artist Alanna Lynch, and Vanessa Lorenzo in collaboration with Rachel Aronoff (president of Hackuarium) under the umbrella of their Utopiana residency Utopiana and the DIY science crowd ofHackuarium.

It is an artistic research on the human–more-than-human (gut microbiome, bacteria, fermentation techniques, etc) networks.

This page is work-in-progress. It is a living documentation of the project that gets regularly updated.

What

EN - This collaboration aims at three goals:

  • To analize our gut microbiome, compare, make microbiology and genomic tests.
  • To built a set of cultures a care, monitorize, interact with them (eat, observe, incubate, share, trac our diet and performance, repeat).
  • To compose a common probiotic garden with kombucha, kefir, etc.

Diet & Incubation

  • What we eat 24 hers before 11.03.19>>> Cultures on the 12.03.19
    • Alanna:
      • Breakfast: Oats with milk kefir, yogurt and flax seeds (grains de lin, etc), raisins. Sunflower seeds.
      • Lunch: Red lentils, with garlic, curry powder, brocoli and red pepper. Plus olive oil, apple-cider vinegar and kimchi. Rice cakes. Sunflower seeds.
      • Dinner: Red lentils, with garlic, curry powder, brocoli and red pepper. Plus olive oil, apple-cider vinegar and kimchi. Rice cakes. Sunflower seeds.
    • Vanessa:
      • Breakfast: Hotmilk (cow) with fat free cacao powder and cornflakes
      • Lunch: Carrot, potato, onion, (salt) puré with bread.
      • Snack: Banana with bread
      • Dinner: Lamb's lettuce (rampon) with clementine, oninon, olive oil, chestnut oil, salt, modena vinegar, with fried green pepper (padrón)
