Problem

Pollution with heavy metals in soil and water is a big issue due to both their wide dissemination and the big threat they pose to human health and the environment.
Up to now, the only way to know if a sample is polluted is calling a lab that charges you a lot and gives results that only scientists can read. Most of the time, if you're not a scientist or you're not trained, you don't know which analysis you should ask for.

Possible solution

A DIY protocol for measuring heavy metal pollution in samples in a more accessible way, aimed at non-scientists, so communities can start generating their own data. Working with teachers?? Develop open educational resources??
